The Hand and Shears

Introducing the first featured pub - The Hand and Shears.

Hidden down a quiet back street, it's hard to believe that you are in the square mile. It's named The Hand and Shears because cloth workers would gather here ahead of the ancient Bartholomew Fair.

When we entered this pub we were greeted by some of the friendliest bar staff on the planet. There were eight of us, and the bar maid took us upstairs and arranged a table for us to sit. Drinks were brought to the table and she remembered the round ever time.

The bar itself is an island bar, with four real ales on tap, including Doom Bar and Timothy Taylors Landlord. If you're looking for a pub to visit when in this area - this is the one.

If you ever visit, then take note of the sign above the corner door, for it states that it is the last place to have a drink before you go off to watch the public executions.
